Default PageRank Search

A lot of people put much more importance in PageRank than they should. To them Page Rank is the most important thing and they concentrate on their PageRank and often promote their site based upon its PageRank.

The most important thing should be the Search Engine Results Pages (SERPs) and where you are in the SERPs. Having a higher PageRank than someone else might make you feel good but they don't care what your PageRank is if they are higher in the Search Engine Results Pages.

Yes it happens and many of you know that. A page with a lower PageRank can be higher in the SERPs than one with a higher PageRank. It happens often.

One of the reasons I like for people to do PageRank searches is because a PageRank seach gives them the chance to see for themselves that pages with a higher Page Rank can be lower on a Search Engine Results Page (SERP) than one with a lower PageRank.

Here is a link to where you can search Google and see the results in order of Google relevance with the PageRank shown for each one so that you can see that having a higher PageRank is not a guarantee of being higher in the search results.

I never did understand about all the hype about PageRank. I think Google hypes it up more than it should be because they want webmasters to download their toolbar. If they didn't make such a big deal about PR I guess not as many webmasters would use it...

I been making a living online for 10 years now, just about all of it by generic search results... never had a site go over a PR of 3 and I been doing just fine. But it sure is entertaining to see how far the little green bar fills up when I go to different sites

I had a site one time that only received maybe 5-10 visitors a day and was page rank 4, so don't put too much faith in page rank. The only thing a site owner should be concerned aobut is traffic, nothing else.

I also give much importance over our ranking in SERP than PR. As the former is where most of our traffic is coming from. PR for me is just a plus factor which is favorable for a site selling ad spaces and links - paired with targeted traffic ofcourse
